I am wedding planning right now, and my fiance, Kris and I are paying for the wedding on our own. So, we are on a pretty restricted budget. Keep in mind, I am a southern belle who truly has been dreaming of my fairytale wedding since I was a young girl. I just knew it would be at a castle in the clouds or some enchanted garden hidden behind a sparkling waterfall in a mystical forest. But, as I am now in the reality of actual planning, I have been rudely awakened to the massive expenses that fairytale dream weddings incur!
Since the two of us are primarily funding the wedding ourselves, it has been extremely scary and stressful at the thought of tapping into my savings, which would typically be a new couple’s nest egg when starting their life together. So we thought of less expensive options like; a destination wedding or eloping. The thought of it was economical, but discouraging. Because, at the end of the day, that isn’t who I am and those aren’t the desires of my heart. I would be settling for the sake of saving money. I believe God for more than settling.
One morning I read one of his God breathed truths saying, “I will be a Father to you and you will be my sons and daughters, said the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:18. I pondered to God, so does this promise make me your princess? I felt His warmth and saw Him smiling at this 🙂
Then I was led to read, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalms 37:4. I was moved to tears, why had I ever doubted Him? When had He ever let me down before? Did I not believe I was a daughter of the Most High? God is love, so He loves love outrageously and wants it to be celebrated! So I asked myself, why would I not trust my heavenly Father to surprise me with His divine blessings and wondrous ways? I decided from that moment on to trust in Him and to put my wedding in His hands…the best hands. He brought Kris and I together, why would he not want us to have a beautiful wedding that glorifies his design for true love? He says, “Fear not, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:32.
I have been persistently believing him and praying for provision and favor every day. And I have been absolutely blown away to the point of tears over and over again in seeing His awesome miracles that never fail to knock me off my feet.
So, do not be defeated by the lies of the enemy, that this life is too hard and you are drowning. God wants to rescue you and wants to give you a life of joy, peace, love and beauty. Christ says, “The thief only comes to steal, kill & destroy. I came so that you may have and enjoy life and have it in abundance until it overflows.” – John 10:10-11. So join God’s team and speak his truths to believe Him in order to receive them.
