Dale Carnegie said, “You can conquer almost any fear if you will only make up your mind to do so. For remember, fear doesn’t exist anywhere except your mind.” Does fear have a place in your mind? It may not even be a constant fear, but rather an influence on small decisions you make on a daily basis. This is embarrassing and so strange, but yesterday I pulled in a shopping center after a hike because I wanted to walk in to this optical store to see if they did eye exams. I wear glasses now, but lately I have been squinting through them. As I walked up to the store, I looked in and immediately felt afraid to walk in. I peeked in and then quickly walked away pretending like I had somewhere else to be. Y’all Im a 26 year old woman and I literally stepped away and called the store. Yes the one I was standing outside of. I knew this was childish, but I felt too grungy to be waited on, I felt unworthy of customer service. I felt a fear of judgment.
But fear is not a Godly characteristic whatsoever. In fact The Word says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and of sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7. This means that my fear and timidity came from another source. Anything that comes from another source, otherwise known as the enemy, should not be acknowledged, agreed with or given any power over us. I allowed fear to make me timid and steal my confidence in a seemingly trivial situation yesterday. But Luke 16:10 says, “Whoever can be trusted with little things can also be trusted with much.” This means that it is important to show God through the little every day things that we know who we are in Him, that we will walk in His confidence and boldness.
Being confident doesn’t mean that you have to feel confident. It won’t always be easy to go out of your comfort zone and do or say things where you feel timid. But, this is when we do it afraid. When we get in line with who God says we are and His promise that we can do ALL things through the One who gives us strength, we will be able to walk in boldness even amidst the feeling of fear. Today, let’s promise not to allow any person or situation steal our joy or confidence. No person on this planet has been given the authority to do that.
Declaration: As a chosen daughter of God, I walk in the boldness of His power, strength and love that fills me. I have a sound and clear mind and only dwell on Godly truths throughout the day. When I partner with Him, I can do things I never thought I could do. People are attracted to me because I am confident and help others to live in freedom of fear too. Today I am fearless.
