Four Beautiful Ways To Connect With God

We are incredible creations who are capable of incredible things. There are many days and even weeks I fall into auto-pilot and self-reliance because I am capable of producing fruit and good things on my own. Non-believers are able to create incredible things, not because they don’t need God, but because they are a product of The Creator. We are all creations by the ultimate Creator. We can do fine on our own, but if we want to be truly powerful, free and impactful, then it is critical to plug in to and to stay plugged into God.

Recently, Kris and I took a long weekend trip up to northern California, where the temperature drop reminded us that it is Autumn. We nestled in a cozy Air BnB with some of our closest friends and set our sights on reconnecting with our own hearts and the heart of God’s. We were really blessed to have a ministry team from a church called Bethel come pour into us. They prayed over us, spoke beautiful words of encouragement and led us into a time of reflection.

I was so hungry to hear clearly from God, all I wanted was for Him to speak to me. I prayed for His voice to be clear before we left and while we were there. For the first few days, I felt like there was a wall between us and it made me discouraged. But finally, when I relinquished my fear that God wouldn’t talk to me and loosened my grip on that desire, God spoke more powerfully and clearly.

I spent two hours asking Him questions, seeing and hearing His answers and alternating between laughing and crying. I was completely drained, yet completely full and satisfied. We went to church twice and just soaked in His Presence while singing praise and worship. I couldn’t get enough. I felt weightless like I was in Heaven. I wish I could just live in this place that nurtures such a connection with God permanently. But, I could only stay long enough to get re-centered, recharged and reset. There was an unfinished mission God and I still needed to carry out.

That time away elevated me to a new level.  I feel ready to take on the world with a heavenly mindset. The channels were opened to hear and see from God like never before.

You were created to connect with the Creator. You were made for relationship, partnership, romance and co-creating. When you aren’t connecting with Him, your well runs dry and life becomes hard, resistant and stale. The only way we can stay hydrated and full is if we fan the flame of the Holy Spirit every day.

When the eyes of your heart are opened and seeing the world, circumstances, yourself and others the way God does, everything else falls into place.   Here are some beautiful ways to connect with the Presence of God, Holy Spirit, Jesus and Heaven.

1. Worship: For me, singing praise and worship is the most powerful part of church. The sermon or message is purely supplemental. The reason is because the voice of God speaks to me in worship. I can easily see myself in the Throne Room dancing with Him, He shows me pictures of what He wants me to see or gives me convictions of how we wants me to change. But it isn’t just me, encountering God in worship is biblical. Psalm 24:6 says, “Such people may seek you and worship in your presence, O God of Jacob.” But in the NLT version, the word “worship” is interchangeable with the word “face.” When we worship God, we seek and find His face. We get to encounter God’s face when we worship Him.

Application: Pray and ask God to show up during worship, hold Him accountable to His promise that says “when you seek me you will find me.” Ask him in advance for how you would like Him to speak to you. Then set your mind on the Throne Room throughout worship and expect Him to show up.

2. Uninterrupted silence to listen: If you really want to have powerful days, don’t look to others or books for affirmations anymore, go straight to the face of God because you can. God longs to speak Truth to us. Sometimes we get caught up in talking to Him and forget to be quiet and listen to Him.

Application: Before you start your day, lean back and close your eyes. Imagine yourself under a waterfall of His love. Soak in how we wants to minister to your heart. Then ask, “Jesus, what do you call me?” Take the first positive word as His word. Then hold out your hands and say, “Jesus, what do you have for me?”

You will probably understand the significance right away, but if you don’t, ask Him “What does this mean?”

3. Read the Word: The Word is never boring, it is full of fresh and exciting adventures for your mind and heart.  If you do feel it is boring or hard to understand, ask God to give you the spiritual eyes and wisdom to understand it. When you read, ask God what it means to you and how it applies to your life. I really love supplementing my morning session under the waterfall with scripture. The other day, I wanted confirmation on what I felt like he told me. You can do this too.

Application: Ask Holy Spirit to reveal a verse God to communicated with you, then wait to see a scripture like “Psalm 123:4” to pop in your head. Then turn to it.

4. Praise and Thanksgiving:

It’s easy to get down on ourselves and feel discouraged that we aren’t where we want to be. We can lose hope and say, “I might as well just give up.” That is precisely how the enemy will feed on your discouragement. That’s why focusing on what God has done for and through you is so refreshing for our minds. We are able to look back at our old selves, where we first started on the journey and think, “Wow, I have come so far. I’m not where I want to be, but thank God I’m not where I used to be.”

Application: Make a list of all the gifts He has given you. Also, make a list on all the ways He has grown you and healed you.

There is nothing more sparkle infusing than spending time in the Throne Room and basking in the beauty of Heaven. When we take the time to be center our minds and hearts in God, our hearts will continue to be transformed more and more into the image of Christ.

Connecting With God’s Heart = The Sparkle Effect

Prayer:

Father, I pray that you would speak to me so clearly in the way you created me to hear you. Please help me to create margin in my life so I have the time to silence everything around me and tune into your voice. I know that I can’t fully carry out the mission you have assigned me if I’m not in sync with you. Father, I long my heart to beat as one with yours. I want nothing more. I just ask that you would be faithful to your promises that say you will show up and make your presence known when I whole heartedly seek you. I declare I am infused with the Holy Spirit that ignites wisdom in discernment as my guide. Amen.

Wonder Words:

As the secrets of their hearts are laid bare. So they will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, “God is really among you!” 1 Corinthians 14:25 NIV

There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him; they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. Revelations 22:3-5 NLT

God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” John 4:24 NIV

“No, please!” said Jacob. “If I have found favor in your eyes, accept this gift from me. For to see your face is like seeing the face of God, now that you have received me favorably. Genesis 33:10 NIV

If this message blessed, be a blessing by sharing with others.
