My Skin Staple Always In The Cabinet

My Skin Staple

Hey girlies!

Most of you know about my struggle with acne. If you don’t check it out here.

Acne may seem like a trite, frivolous issue of vanity, but it can be extremely painful and socially debilitating. If you are struggling with it, I am so sorry. It’s been an issue for me since I was 13 years old, so I understand what you’re going through.

The medical term is acne vulgaris and is covered by health insurance because it is a chronic skin disease.

In my journey, I can’t tell you how many products and methods I have tried and the variety of prescriptions written. As you may be able to relate, the process is long, frustrating, disappointing, emotional and expensive.

Many women have written me asking how I healed my acne and about my fave products. I’ve decided to create a skin care column dedicated to help make your skin care journey shorter and more effective than mine was.

I am EXTREMELY  picky and particular so you can rest assured I will only give you legitimately awesome products. Keep in mind, every skin type and problem is different. But generally, I know what’s powerful and what isn’t.

Finally, the first product I can not rave enough about is…

IS Clinical Active Serum.

The product is expensive, but it’s worth it and a staple in my skin product wardrobe. If you don’t get anything else I recommend, get this!!

It started with my aesthetician telling me about it and giving me a sample. I to think products were weak if they didn’t have retinoids in it. The serum is an all natural product, which I normally think is bogus. But, I used the sample at night and noticed my complexion was glassy and smooth in the mornings.

The reason it’s called active serum is because all the ingredients are living and active, meaning there is an expiration date. It’s much gentler on your skin than a retinoid and it doesn’t cause redness, peeling or irritation. As long as you finish it off with a great moisturizer, you are good to go!

When I ran out, I noticed my skin was getting rough and breaking out again. So I relented and bought the 1 oz. bottle.

It’s great because it addresses all the issues that come from acne like scarring, discoloration and hyper pigmentation. It also helps with fine lines and I am not kidding. I didn’t even know I had fine lines until I saw how much smoother it made my skin.

If you decide to get it and use it, I’d love to hear about your experience with it. Please leave a comment below if you’d like to me address a specific issue.

Love you!

  1. Kristen, I have had a small struggle with acne as well. What have you been able to do to help conceal/heal previous scarring? I did a chemical peel once which helped, but I don’t always have several days like that off work when I can get one done and not have to leave the house. My scarring isn’t very bad, but I would still like to clean it up if possible so there are no dark marks on my skin from previous acne when I remove my make-up or wear light make-up.

Hey Clarka! I have tried chemical peels too and all they did was cause a lot of redness, peeling and discomfort. I’m not kidding, the active serum will have a similar effect as a peel except over time with without peeling. I also am OBSESSED with Peter Thomas Roth complexion pads with AHA/BHA. They’re a game changer. I will write an article on those too!

  2. Kristen, I’ve been following your website for a year now and I’m very excited about your skin care column! I’m in my early twenties and my acne has negatively impacted my self esteem. I’d also love to read about your favorite face makeup products.

  3. I would love to try this product. Do you know where the best place to buy it is? I tried using the iS clinical website to locate it locally but after calling two of the authorized retailers they do not carry it. I also looked on Amazon but after reading some of the reviews I am nervous to buy it there. Please let me know if you have a reputuable online retailer. Thank you for the recommendation! I look forward to trying it soon!

  4. Hi Kristen,

I want to try IS Clinical Active Serum. Though you said this is expensive but helps a lot with your skincare problem. Why buy cheap products if the solution to your problem is the expensive one? Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to try IS Clinical Active Serum, will be buying sooner.
