Thriving Thursday: Raquel & Andrew Make a Comeback!

Raquel & Andrew

I’m seating here watching my husband submit payroll for his employees from this past week. We are in his office at the Tap Shack in Newport Beach and I can’t help admire his attention to detail amidst the organized chaos that surrounds him.

“The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all.” – Psalm 34:19.

God did not leave us hanging after we lost everything. He prepared for us new adventures here in Orange County. In May 2013, Andrew was offered partnership at the Tap Shack. It’s any man’s dream sports bar, nestled in on 17th and Dover, with 25 TVs, 20 beers on tap and a mouthwatering menu, I’ve had a hard time making home as desirable as it! Just kidding! I’m smiling right now, thinking about how good God is and how sexy it is to watch my man at his craft.

“You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. LORD my God, I will praise you forever.” Psalm 30:11-12 (NIV)

As for me, I took a position at our local church working in the Children’s Ministry, teaching the babies about Jesus! I’m surrounded with children who have eyes that see wonders and where everything is brand new. It’s awe-inspiring. And I’ve also been able to relaunch our non-profit, Give Love Back, which adds so much joy to my day! It feels as if my dreams are aligned with His plan for my life and there is nothing more comforting and secure than that.

Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! Isaiah 43:1-2

Everyday Andrew and I wake up not knowing how God will use us. But our faith is so deeply rooted that we know that whatever may come our way we will be okay. Nothing is promised. And because we are still so young into our marriage I don’t think I could tell you any secrets to survival. The only thing I can testify to, is that with God ALL things are possible. Aww yes, God didn’t leave us hanging at all.

Isaiah 58:10-11: ” … If you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”
